Monrovia: The Liberian Government has signed a twenty-five year agreement with the A&G Agro-Mechanical Industries for massive rice production in Liberia.

Speaking at the signing ceremony during the weekend in Monrovia, Thomas Abanga, President of the Agriculture Business Industries promised reliable Market and profitable Agric Business by providing high quality Farm Equipment and Agricultural Solution at competitive and affordable prices in Liberia.
Mr. Abanga said why operating in the Country, the A&G Agro-Mechanical Industries will be committed to provide advance training for Liberian Farmers in capacity building aimed at sustaining the fight against poverty, and to compete with other farming institutions across the continent.
While he frowned at the continual importation of rice in the country, Mr. Abanga urged the Liberian Government to continue supporting Pan African Agenda with integrated innovation in Agriculture.
“As a commitment to the people of Africa, and the assertion “teaching a man to fish, our mission is to empower the agricultural community to eradicate hunger and poverty by assisting agriculturalist and private farmers in developing their long term economic prosperity and self-sufficiency through cost effective tractors, implements and modern designed farming techniques training, Abanga said.
Signing on behave of the Liberian Government was Deputy Agriculture Minister for regional development, research and Extention, Syrenius Cephas.
Cllr. Cephas in his speech welcomed the agriculture Industries and pledged the Government’s commitment to make ten thousand acres of land available to the Industries for rice production.
The Deputy Agriculture Minister stated that the agreement is also in line with the CDC’s Agricultural Investment Plan, while disclosing plans for mass production of peppers by the Company in the coming years.
“This is a very laudable agreement as it will bring maximum relieve to many Liberian farmers and increase the fight against poverty, Cllr. Cephus said.
