Addressing a news conference on the main campus of the University of Liberia, Daniel Sargbe a member of the Central Committee said Chairman Levi was doing dubious political business with politicians in the name of the party thus attempting to grind down the rich history and moral value of SUP.

“Having investigated the unilateral decision of the chairman to protest on July 26, against the celebration of Liberia’s 171th Independence celebration, it was proven that the Chairman  accepted money from the opposition leaders to mention declaration and that the chairman is continuously doing dubious business  with politicians in the name of our party, thereby attempting to derail the name of our rich party and moral value of the movement.” he said

The Party is at the same time urging the public not to do business with Butu Levi in the name of SUP.

But in response the embattled Chairman,Butu Levi termed the allegation as baseless and lacks every substance of truth.

Chairman Levi who preferred not to be tapped noted that he remains the legitimate Chairman of the Party and promised not to give credence to those he referred to as surrogates of the CDC led government.

It can be recalled on July 26,2018, During Liberia’s Independence Day Celebration, the Vanguard Students Unification Party at the University of Liberia  led an array of student leaders at the United States Embassy near Monrovia to protest against the celebration of Liberia’s 171st Independence Day anniversary.

The protest action by the student group was also attended by members of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia and Child Rights Advocate, Abraham Keita.

The students from the University of Liberia were seen holding placards with different inscriptions pointing to the high economic situation but were being barricaded by the officers of the Liberia National Police.

During theprotest, the student Party leader Butu Levi told reporters at the US Embassy that there was no need for Liberians to celebrate the Independence Day in the midst of economic challenges.

Levi however called on the International community to intervene by protecting the gains that Liberia has made over the years.
