Liberia Water & Sewer Corp. loosing 300,000 USD to Water Theft, Linkages..

MONROVIA: The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation  is drastically losing about 300,000 United States dollars from water theft and waste on a monthly basis, says the entity.

The LWSC Managing Director, Duannah Kamara disclosed that base on such loss, the company has set up a task force comprising personnel of the entity and officers of the Liberia National Police to curtail the situation.

Mr. Kamara speaking to reporters in Monrovia Tuesday pointed out that the company is also working with community leaders to discourage and report water theft.

He added that the company has forwarded to court a number of individuals allegedly involved in water theft.

Mr. Kamara noted that the company is experiencing heavy losses because of water theft and linkage.

“We get the cheapest rate for water in the West African basin, and this is something we continue to work on because is creating serious problem for the corporation in the month revenue water system. Theft of water is very high but my technical team and I are working very hard including our team in the field just making sure the public is informed and how they can help in the process. 

Out of Hundred percent, we are losing about 78% to lost water, lost revenue waters and linkages, ” he said. 

The LWSC boss is also appealing to former employees of the company not to engage in the connection of water lines illegally.
