Monrovia,Liberia: River Cess District #2 Representative, Byron Zahnwea has decried what he calls limited police presence in the county.

The 2008 National Housing and Population Census put the human population of River Cess at little over seventy-one thousand.

Representative Zahnwea revealed that the county has only eighteen police officers, with a huge number of those assigned there abandoning their duty post.

According to the lawmaker, Sand Beach, a hotspot for the trading of narcotic substances lacks police presence, thus posing serious security threats to residents.

Zahnwea however furthered that the situation now compels community watch teams and tribal chiefs to perform the duty of law enforcement officers.

The Legislator further lamented over the absence of police officers in Sangbalor District, an area situated behind the Cestos River.

Zahnwea spoke to legislative reporters at his Capitol Building office following a meeting with Police Inspector-General, Col. Patrick Sudue Wednesday.
