Monrovia-Several students and officials including the Executive Director of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration were on Tuesday thrown out of their offices on the order of the debt court of Liberia.
LIPA which is headed by former Montserrado County District three Representative Bill Twehway owes over $ US 100 thousand dollars to a Lebanese businessman as rental fee for the building currently occupied.
The immediate closure of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) is stemmed on a ruling by the debt court in favor of a Lebanese business man which give a 21 day ultimatum to LIPA to pay the amount of approximately 102 thousand dollars as rental fee.
The court’s action also paralyzed normal working activities as staffers and students were seen loitering around the vicinity of the institution.
However, some staffers including the Executive Director of LIPA also criticized the court for being impatient with the institution.
According to them, the LIPA administration is working out modalities with the Ministry of Finance to secure the money in order to pay the Lebanese business man his rental fees.
