The groups in a discussion with committee members called on the Legislature not to give credence to calls for the establishment of the War and Economic Crime Court in Liberia.
Daniel Bestman and Moses Kesselly representing the two groups against the establishment of the court in the country told legislators that Liberia must trek on the path to peace and genuine reconciliation.
According to them, those who are calling for the establishment of the court should have done that in previous administration instead of President George’s government adding that their quest is not timely for the country.
Bestman and Kesselly pointed out that Liberia has much catching issues to discuss than the establishment court in Liberia.
“We believe that the War Crimes Court is not proper for Liberia and Africa as a whole. We are responsible and Independent people, why will others always play on our conscience? Liberia is not prepare for such court, they said”
Meanwhile the House’s Committee Chair on Claims and Petition, Representative Rustolyn Dennis told the groups that engagement with them was to ascertain their views on the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
According to Rep, Dennis, those for and against the establishment of the court will be highlighted and final report taken to plenary for relevant action.
