Nimba County District # 5 Representative Samuel Kogar is calling on the Government of Liberia to arrest those ex-rebel generals who have threatened to forcefully arrest Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
At a press conference in Monrovia Tuesday, ex-rebel generals representing three defunct warring factions asked Representative Kolubah to submit himself to them for probe, or else he would be forced to do so.
They want clarity to statement attributed to the Montserrado District 10 lawmaker, accusing President Weah of having his hands in the death of Representative Adolph Lawrence.
According to Representative Kogar, the threats made by the ex-rebel generals against a sitting lawmaker have the propensity to bring the entire Legislature to public disrepute.
He said, the ex-generals lack the constitutional will and political power to arrest any public official or ordinary citizen while expressing their opinion on a subject matter.
The Nimba lawmaker claimed, the ex-rebel generals were in total error to publicly issue a 72 hour arrest ultimatum against a member of the House of Representatives who was duly elected by his constituents.
Representative Kogar said, in as much as he disagrees with Representative Kolubah on several national issues, he will not sit and allow his colleague be subjected to threats from those who heavily contributed to the civil crisis in the country.
In the first place, whether representative Yekeh is right or not, that would be decided during a due process. But the form and manner in which Yekeh issue has been handled is wrong.
The county attorney of a court system that is appointed by the Government is not a police officer to order threats or arrest for honorable Yekeh Kolubah.
If Yekeh has done anything, there must a complainant. A County attorney cannot be looking for cases. Can he go Duala to look for case, people who fighting in the street? No! Except police made an arrest that this person is an alleged criminal, at which time he must be prosecuted.
Second issue has to do with the wave of threat from those Ex-rebels especially Ofori Diah. He’s an Ex-convict!
I re-emphasize, Ofori Diah is an Ex-convict!
An executive pardon was given Ofori by madam Sirleaf when they took them from Grand Gedeh.
So, for such a person to request a sitting lawmaker duly elected by his people, is a threat to the Country. He needs to be arrested.
The Nimba County lawmaker, who also frowned on a citation from Montserrado County Attorney Edwin Martin inviting Representative Kolubah for questioning, wants members of the House of Representatives to join him in resisting plans to remove the Montserrado County District # 10 Representative from the Legislature.
Representative Kogar spoke Wednesday when he addressed a team of Legislative reporters at his Capitol Building Office in Monrovia.
