Monrovia-The Chief Imam of Liberia has described political parties in Liberia as social clubs that promote the interest of the elite than the ordinary people.

Imam Sheik Krayee said the political system in the country has shown that a vast majority of the grass rooters do not benefit from the political gains after an election.

According to him, political parties are not based on ideologies but serving as springboard where people promote one person and obtain jobs.

Sheik Alieu Krayee wants the establishment of a broad based social democratic party that will seek the interest of the ordinary people in the country

He made the disclosure over the weekend when he served as a panelist at a symposium marking the anniversary of April 14 RICE Riot held at the Union of Conscious of African headquarters in Monrovia.
