MONROVIA: Criminal Court “A” at the Temple of Justice has sentenced a 26 year old woman to 25 years in prison for killing her boyfriend Morris Johnson.

Report by Massa Kanneh-Masskanneh4@gmail.com

According to Judge Rosevelt Willie, Johnetta Abu will spend Twenty Two years in Prison and three years on probation, if she exhibit good morals.

After several Court appearances from June 2018, Abu took the stand and denied killing Johnson and pleaded not guilty.

On Last week, a twelve man coronal Juror handed down a guilty verdict on Miss Abu, but her Lawyer Arthur Johnson took an exception.

Following the Guilty Verdict, Counselor Johnson filed a Motion for New Trial, describing as sentimental and not based on Law.

But on today Monday, January 7, the motion for New Trial was argued and subsequently denied by the Court.

During the sentencing,   Judge Willie read the investigative report from the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Justice which shows that Abu is not a violent person, while other sources disclosed she smokes, takes in  Alcohol and at some point attacks her late boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Prosecution says the twenty five years is not enough but rather a life imprisonment or Death Penalty is prescribed in the statute.

At the same time, Defense team says it will make use of the statute and take an appeal to the Supreme Court.

For Johnson Sister, Deddeh Johnson, the moment is an excitement for the Family, but thinks the Court should provide a most rigid punishment on Abu
