2017/2018 National County Sports Meet To Begin After Several Postponements

Monrovia, Liberia– The Ministry of Youth and Sports  has announced Saturday, March 31, 2018 as the official kick-off date of the 2017/2018 National County Sports Meet in Liberia.

After being Postponed five times in successions, the fate of the nation’s biggest sporting festival, the “County Meet” has finally been decided.

There has been reports of  disagreements among  the National  Superintendents Council and Authorities of the Youth and Sports Ministry over a required amount to be given to each county as preparation funds, a situation  widely criticized by Citizens especially sports lovers in the Country; attributing the delay to the misunderstanding  among the Authorities.

According to plan, the kick-off date  will feature the opening games of the Competition,  while other matches will be play  on April 3 and 6 respectively, with winners moving  to Monrovia for the quarter-finals.

The venue for Group stage matches still remain the same.

Greenville, Sinoe County will play host to Group ‘A’s activities, where Maryland, Grand Kru, River Gee and Sinoe Counties will battle against each other.

Group ‘B’s games will come alive in Gbarnga, Bong County, where the host (Bong) will face Nimba, Lofa and Grand Gedeh Counties.

As for Group ‘C’s matches, they will be played at the Doris William stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

This venue will host matches involving, defending Champions, Montserrado County, host Grand Bassa, as well as Margibi County and Rivercess Counties.

Robertsports will host Group D’s games, where Cape Mount will battle Gbarpolu and Bomi Counties.
