MONROVIA: A leading global hospitality company in Africa, the Hilton Hotels & Resorts has signed a 48 Million United States dollars Management Agreement with Hospitality Concept & Allied Services Limited to bring its flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to the capital city of Liberia.
The $48m project was unveiled at a signing ceremony on Tuesday in Monrovia and will see the famous Hilton name adorn a 192 guest room property in the Eastern suburb of Paynesville.
During the signing ceremony Tuesday, Hilton representative Geri Wessels said the agreement is an outstanding project which, as the first internationally branded property to enter the market, will be a game changer for the travel and tourism industry in Liberia.
Madam Wessels stated that Hilton Hotels and Resorts has a proud history on the African continent stretching back over 50 years and look forward to adding Monrovia to the list of destinations in which we have pioneered the hospitality industry over that time.
“This would be a milestone achievement which will attract more investors to Liberia. We look forward to doing more investment based upon the commitment of the Liberian government to continue this partnership,” Geri Wessels said
According to her, the Company focuses n providing increased connectivity and improves infrastructure and excited to partner with the Hospitality Concept & Allied Services Limited for the completion of the project.
Also speaking was Vincent Iweanoge, the President of the Hospitality Concept & Allied Services Limited who promised the company’s commitment to provide full time employment for over three hundred Liberians during the construction of the 12 storey tower complex in the Country.
Mr. Iweanoge said the project, when completed will furthered improve tourism, and add tremendously to the economy, while at the same time taking the Liberian hospitality industry to the next level.
“It is our hope that this project will empower more Liberians. This will further enhance job opportunities for citizens in Liberia as the Hotel will be an eye opener for turists investment.
Meanwhile, Deputy Information minister for cultural Affairs and Tourism, Lance Gba-Gonyon said Liberia is open to rightful investment that will attract tourists.
Minister Gba-Gonyon further assured the Hilton Hotel and Resorts Company, that the Liberian Government is Passionate to accept the project.
Hilton Monrovia is expected to begin welcoming guests in 2023 and will become the first hotel to open in the city under an international operator. Accordingly, the 12 storey tower complex will contain state of the art conferencing facilities, a restaurant, bar and outdoor pool. Guests will be able to choose between upscale appointed guest rooms and a range of suites, including two Presidential Suites.Â
