On February 13, 2017 Government and the Euro Logging Company signed a memorandum of understanding for the pavement of 166 kilometers of laterite road connecting the three counties.
The project intended to reduce the difficulty associated with transporting goods and services has a tax wavier by government to the company in amounts equal to the cost of construction of a little over three million United States dollars.
However, Representative Nagbe Sloh of Sinoe complained on February 13, 2018 that the project was yet to be complemented thus promoting an investigation by the House’s Investment committee.
The committee in its report Tuesday noted that two phases of the project was completed and the company requested the Public Works Ministry to issue certificates for said portion.
But the committee Chair, Representative Tibelrosa Tarponweh added that only one of the certificates was issued until their investigation which led to second issuance.
Representative Tarponweh added that had the certificate been issued following the completion of phase two of the project, the company vowed to have reached the deadline.
According to him, from their investigation it was fully established that the committee was not responsible for the delay.
The Committee Chair requested plenary to grant Euro Logging Company to be granted an extension of one year by Public Works for the completion of the projects.
Meanwhile the Plenary of the House of Representatives has fully endorsed the committee’s report in its totality.
