Monrovia: The Naymote Partners for Democratic Development has released its fifth survey report assessing citizens’ perception on the quality of governance in Liberia.

The report outlines the participation of 3,185 registered voters out of 2 million registered voters from across 46 electoral districts in Liberia.
Reading the survey report in Paynesville at a news conference Monday, Naymote’s Executive Director Eddie Jarwolo said respondents in the report rated the government’s performance in handling the economy as poor, job creation as poor, improving living standard of Liberians as poor, addressing educational needs of citizens as fair as well as fighting corruption as very poor.
Jarwolo noted that 35% of the respondents in the report were business people, 30% were self-employed, 12% farmers, 10% government employees while 89% of the respondents were high school and college students.
Jarwolo stated that 64% of the respondents interviewed think the country is going the wrong direction, 13% said the country is somehow going in the wrong direction while 9% said the country is going in the right direction.
The report to according to Jarwolo, mentioned that 70% of the respondents described the current economic condition in the country as poor while 14% considers it as very poor while 2% considers it as good.
The Naymote fifth survey report also reveals that 44% of the respondents rated their lawmaker performance as poor.
Commenting further Eddie Jarwolo added that 86% of the respondents stated that they don’t approve the president appointing local leaders or chiefs in their district while 11% said they approve the president appointing local leaders.
