In conversation with the OK Conversation Monday, Senator Wesseh disclosed that impeachment processes do not originate from the House of Representatives but rather the Liberian Senate.

Wesseh a pioneer of the Progressives in Liberia mentioned that the action against Justice Ja’neh could plunge the country into chaos.

He wants members of the 54th National Legislature to focus their ideas on finding solution to the alleged disappearance of over fifteen billion dollars from the country’s two ports of entry.

“what I consider of concern, the economic issues, the issue of the money that they say is missing,I want us to deal with that to restore our name. It took us 15 years to make sure that Liberia regain her respectability and we’re not going to allow that to be destroyed by saying that we are all thieves, a forty-foot container that we will take it.

As we speak, there is not procedure for impeachment. Everything that was done in the lower House, was not in conformity with article 43 of the Liberian constitution, so we don’t have a procedure. I’m saying that wer are not respecting the constitution, the senate should not have standing rules on impeachment, no, because the constitution doesn’t give you that power. The constitution says the Legislature should prescribed the rules, not the senate.

He added that the missing Liberian dollar banknotes have placed a dent on the image of Liberia and Liberians to the outside world.

Meanwhile, Montserrado District 8 lawmaker Acarous Gray has sharply reacted to the Senator’s assertion, terming it as total deception.

Representative Gray, who is one of the lead proponents of the impeachment bill noted that the lower House did not err as claimed by the Senator.
