Van-Dave Harmon Dedicates First Goal To BYC

Liberian striker Van-Dave Harmon scored his first goal for FS Matte on Saturday in the Latvian top flight league.

Harmon’s 40th-minute close-range effort was enough to give FS Matte a 1-0 away victory over FK Liepaja.

Matte’s victory was their first of the season but remain at the bottom of the table.

Van Dave was substituted in the 85th minute and replaced by Strods Davis.

The 2017 Liberian Football Association’s highest goal scorer, who signed for Matte from BYC on a two-year deal along with former Fassell FC’s winger Sunnyboy Dolo, said he was happy hitting the back of the net after three games.

“I give God the glory; I feel good just because it’s a new team and the gravity of the goal giving my team her first win of the league. I think it was important. But it not strange to me, scoring goal is my job, more to come,” Harmon said.

The former BYC captain said he is grateful to his former club for giving him the opportunity to develop as a young player in Liberia.

“This point is dedicated to the CEO, COO and the rest of BYC members that set up the stands through imagination but today it is a reality.

“Scoring in Europe is extremely exciting because it is hard to get and when you get it, the respond from the spectators is like wow.

“To be honest, I was waiting for this moment to score my first goal. I had several chances in our past game. It was very important for me to score today. It relieves me a little bit,” the former ELWA United forward told FrontPage Africa from his based in Eastern Europe.

Commenting on his team current position, Van-Dave said they are focused as a team to finish the league above the relegation zone.

He urged his teammates to pull their skills together so that their team can make history.

“You can see the team has good structure. It was very important to come back from the two games.

“We have been through a disappointing result. It’s very nice. For a win today and is very good for the confidence. It’s what we needed.

“We need momentum. Everything is going in the right way. We’re very pleased with these two last games so let’s carry on,” young Van-Dave said.
