By: Sylvester Tamba

The Liberia National Table Tennis has elected new crop of officials to stir the affairs of the organization for the next four years.

Officials elected and inducted into office include: Gbassy Golee – President, Wennie Klimeh – Vice President for Administration and Jacob Cooper – Vice President for Technical Affaris.

Others are Siaquiyah Davis – Vice President for International Relations, Larmine Freeman – Secretary General and Mennie Klimeh – Financial Secretary.

The folks were inducted into office on January 19, 2023 in Monrovia.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, Deputy Minister for Sports G. Andy Quamie said the Ministry of Youth and Sports will work with all 32 recognized sporting federations and associations in the country to ensure the improvement of the game.

Minister Quamie also said his love for football as deputy minister cannot disassociate him from working with other sports, while cautioning the newly inducted officials of the Liberia Table Tennis Association to work in the interest of the institution.

“Though it is challenging, but we hope to work with you and other federations. Like I said, we have recognized 32 sporting federations and associations. To say our focus is only on football, is not truth, Deputy Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie acknowledged”.

In his induction speech, the President of Liberia Table Tennis Association, G. Gbassay Golee promised that Liberia will have a prepared national team under his administration.

Mr. Golee added that he took over without a national team and the country specific ranked on the international Table Tennis rankings; areas he said need improvements.

“My love for this game started back in the 80’s as a little boy. Now, as president of this institution, I will demonstrate good leadership to ensure those things that were lacking in the past administrations be done at time, Mr. Golee said”.
