Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson says the Weah Administration took over a net reserve of US$150 million from the previous regime of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
At a news conference on Thursday, the Nimba County lawmaker said he has seen the 2018 turnover note from the previous regime to the current and saw that there was a net reserve of US$150 million.
“My concern is that I saw something in the turnover note from former President Sirleaf to Mr. Weah. I saw it in the copy of the turnover note – straight one hundred and fifty million United States Dollars.” Senator Johnson said.
“I am asking the legislature to join me, specifically those seventy three of them in the House of Representative and the 15 senators and all other in the legislature seeking re-election to join me in requesting our leader, Mr President who want second mandate to publish the turnover note that contain properity of the Liberian people and money.” He noted.
The CDC government had repeatedly told the people of Liberia that it took over a broke nation but has not been able to clearly state what was Liberia’s reserve was when the regime took over from the Unity Party.
But Senator Prince Johnson challenged the President and the government to make public the turnover note from the Ellen Johnson regime to Liberians can have a clear understanding of what is in there.
He called on his colleagues to join him to demand the President to make public the turnover note which contain the properties and money of the Liberian people.
The former ruling Unity Party in a release issued on Friday in response to what it left in the reserve of Liberia said it left a net of one hundred fifty seven million in the national reserve at the Central Bank of Liberia.
The former ruling party challenged President Weah to make public the turnover note the Unity Party government presented when Mr. Weah assumed the helm of the Liberian presidency.
