President George Weah has downplayed the opposition capability of winning him in the upcoming October polls terming their desire to replace him as a joke.
In an apparent jab to former Vice President Joseph Boakai, President Weah called on Liberians not to give credence to politicians who failed to develop the country despite being in power for 12- years.
The President also said serving as a Member on the board of coca-cola does not make a person qualify a country, a jab directed at Alexander Cummings, ANC Political Leader and Former Chief Administrative Officer of Coca-cola.
Mr. Weah told a gathering of fishermen in New Kru Town who were receiving a donation of life jackets that he is the only man able to develop the country.
Comparing his achievements as president to his predecessors, the president boasted that the level of development carried out within five years of his administration surpassed 171 years of development in Liberia.
His assertions come amid a research showing that the President has only fulfilled 8% of 292 promises made to Liberians.
The Research which tracked the President’s five year performance was conducted by Pro Democracy Group, Naymote Partners for Democratic Development.
The President will be seeking re-election on October 10, 2023, as Liberians will be electing new Leaders for the next six years.
