Two lawmakers of Nimba County have threatened to take Senator Prince Johnson to the International Criminal Tribunal for accusing them of sponsoring more than 30 ex-rebels to create chaos during the recently held June 7 protest.
Senator Prince Johnson accused representatives Larry Younquoi and Samuel Kogar of sponsoring more than 30 ex-rebel generals to create confusion during the June 7, protest, a claim the two lawmakers have denied.
Report from the County states that though senator Johnson secretly apologized to his colleagues, the reconciliation meeting later ended in deadlock, which provoked the two representatives to issue the threat.
They further frowned on the Chiefs and Elders’ decision for not holding Senator Johnson guilty for his allegation.
The ceremony took place at the weekend, during a citizen meeting held at the Evangelical Free Church of West Africa in Nimba County.
Representative Larry Younquoi told the gathering that Senator Johnson’s claim has created bad image on his family, while Representative Samuel Kogar termed the accusation as a threat to his family.
Both representatives Younquoi and Kogar, who denied Senator Johnson’s accusation, have however given 21 days ultimatum to chiefs and elders of the county to investigate the current circumstances or they will take the matter to the ICC.
The recently publicized June 7, protest reportedly generated threats and intimidation amongst various political parties, including the Governing Coalition for Democratic Change and opposition parties, with either side throwing accusing fingers at one another.
