President George Weah says journalists have a cardinal role to play in upholding the peace, security and stability of the country during the October 2023 elections.

Speaking at the Forkay Klon Jlateh Family fellowship church on Sunday, President Weah said journalists in Liberia have a very important role to play in making the country developmentally strong and vibrant.

Mr. Weah on Sunday hosted a segment of Liberian journalists to express appreciation for the work those journalists have done and continue to do in the interest of the country.

He wants journalists report nothing but the truth in these elections period.

President Weah told the journalists who he had invited to worship with him to ensure that the voice of the voiceless is heard in the forthcoming elections.

After leading the country from 2018 to present, Weah is seeking re-election during this year’s October Presidential and Legislative Elections.

He has come under criticism over what the opposition and some civil society termed as harsh living condition in the country, but Mr. Weah and his supporters have maintained that the President has done well and deserves re-election.
