Gov’t takes tougher measures to address “messy” education system”

Monrovia-The Ministry of Education has announced several measures aimed at strengthening the Country’s education sector.

The announcement of the procedures followed recent conduct of a national education summit in Kakata, Margibi County, which brought together several school administrators including some high profile government officials.

Addressing a press Conference in Monrovia Thursday, Professor Ansu Sonni, Minister of Education said beginning 2018/2019 academic school year, senior students who do not make a successful pass in major courses of the WASSCE Exams will return to the classroom.

He said, 12th graders who fail the WASSCE Exams will not be allowed to re-sit, adding that any mass failure in a school will either lead to the dismissal of the principal be made to resign with immediate effect.

While urging students to always report the absence of teachers from the classrooms, Minister Sonni also announced the resumption of WAEC Exams for 6th grade students beginning next academic school year.

Meanwhile, Minister Ansu Sonni is warning schools across the country not to organize any programs in the name of thanksgiving service for senior students, until the WASSCE results are announced.

In the same time, the West African Examinations Council, WAEC Liberia Office has assured the public that results for the 2018 WAEC Exams will be released on July 5, 2018.

The disclosure was made Thursday by the current head of WAEC Liberia Office, Dale Gboto.
