Justice Minister Dean assures speedy Pre-trial detention

Monrovia,Liberia: The Minister of Justice says he would commit himself in making sure that poor Condition of Liberia Prison Facilities is addressed.

During his first tour as Minister at the Monrovia Central Prison,  Musa Dean  identified  series of  challenges that need to be addressed.

He said despite people in prison might have bridged some societal Law and are being reprimanded,  they have to be treated humanely and with respect.

Cllr. Dean on Thursday told delegates, that the Ministry would work with the Court on the fast-tracking of cases for Pretrial detainees in order to help Decongest the Prison Facility.

Meanwhile, Assistant  Justice Minister for Bureau of Correction and Rehabilitation Eddie Tarawalli,  who was also part of the visiting delegates requested the Minister of Justice to help revamp the Rehabilitation program for prisoners.

Minister Tarawalli highlighted  skills such as Mechanic and Carpentry programs at all Sixteen prisons in Liberia.

Tarawalli  said he would love to see all Government Vehicles and Public School Chairs being made by Prisoners through their Rehabilitation Process.
