Monrovia,Liberia: Liberia’s New Health Minister Dr. Willimena Jallah says capacity building of health care workers across the country will become a major priority under her watch as head of the ministry.

Dr Jallah said in order to build a resilient health sector in Liberia, the concern of health workers must also be addressed in line with attractive salaries and benefits for them.

She noted the involvement of the World Health Organization in tackling the high number of cases on infant mortality rate in the country.

Speaking Tuesday at the Health Ministry, Dr Willimena Jallah also called for the support of the Ministry of Public Works on embarking on the opening of roads that are not accessible by health workers.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate Health Committee Chairman Peter Coleman wants the current health minister to work along with the Internal Audit Agency in discovering the ghost names on the payroll of the Ministry of Health.

Senator Coleman assured that the senate will exercise the political will in allocating more funding to the health sector.
