MONROVIA: The Board of Directors of the National Lottery Authority has endorsed President George Weah’s recent appointment of Mr. Neved Kortu as Deputy Director General for operation at the entity.
The Board, headed by Titus Charley, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, reached the decision Friday during its regular Board meeting.
A release from the office of the Board Chairman says Mr. Neved Kortu replaces Madam Agnes Effiong whose tenure has since expired at the NLA.
Section 8.2 of the amended Act creating the National Lottery Authority authorizes the Board of Directors to appoint a Deputy Director General for operation as Principal Deputy to the Director General for an initial term of two years and could be reappointed based on performance.
It also states that the appointee shall serve at the will and pleasure of the Board of Directors.
President Weah two months ago, constituted the Board of Directors of the Agency appointing Mr. Titus Charley as Chairman of the Board of the National Lottery Authority.
Other members of the Board include Samuel Tweah, Jr. Minister of Finance & Development Planning, Statutory Member; Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr., Minister of Justice, Statutory Member; Williametta Saydee-Tarr, Minister of Gender, Statutory Member; and David K. Vinton, Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Member.
