The Africa New Stars Sports Academy (ANSSA) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, celebrated its 4th Anniversary with a colorful and energetic event held at the RLJ Kendeja Resort & Villas.
The day’s celebration kicked off with a grand parade from the RLJ Kendeja Hotel junction to the resort, setting the tone for a day filled with enthusiasm, reflection, and recommitment to youth development through sports.
The event brought together players, coaches, guests, football stakeholders, and community members, all of whom joined in the celebration to recognize the academy’s achievements since its founding.
A Milestone in Youth Sports Development
ANSSA was officially established on September 23, 2021, with the mission of developing and nurturing grassroots talent as a sustainable pathway to securing the future of young people through sports, particularly football.
Over the past four years, the academy has grown into a vital institution in Liberian football, providing structured training, mentorship, and opportunities for young athletes to excel both on and off the pitch.
The 4th anniversary celebration was marked by excitement and pride, with players proudly showcasing their talents and stakeholders applauding the academy’s impact.
The event also included cultural displays, musical performances, and inspiring speeches.
Keynote Address: LFA Commits to Support Grassroots Football
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha Raji, Mr. Mohammed Sheriff praised ANSSA for its rapid growth and strong contribution to the development of football in Liberia.

“ANSSA stands out as a shining example of how investment in grassroots sports can transform lives. The LFA is proud of your progress and remains committed to supporting initiatives like yours,” Mr. Sheriff stated.
He went on to announce that more football pitches will be commissioned across the country, as part of the LFA’s broader commitment to expanding access to proper training and playing facilities for youth academies and community teams.
“We understand that proper infrastructure is essential for talent development. Our goal is to ensure that young athletes have access to quality playing fields in every county,” he added.
ANSSA Reaffirms Its Commitment to Excellence
Also speaking at the event, Melvin Toteh Panton, Chief Administrator of ANSSA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporters, partners, parents, and the technical team who have been instrumental in the academy’s journey.
He reaffirmed the academy’s continued dedication to its founding principles.
“We are deeply committed to the transformation of young lives through sports. As we celebrate this important milestone, we recommit ourselves to excellence, discipline, and continuous improvement. Our board and technical staff are fully prepared to carry this vision forward,” Panton declared.
He also emphasized ANSSA’s goal of holistic development, noting that the academy not only trains footballers but also instills values of education, teamwork, and leadership.
Looking Ahead
As ANSSA enters its fifth year, plans are underway to expand its programs, improve facilities, and establish partnerships with local and international football organizations. The academy’s leadership expressed optimism about the future and called on stakeholders to continue investing in youth sports development.
