LKF President speaks on extensive issues about the institution during its 2024 Awards Program

The Liberia Kickball Federation held its 2024 Awards program on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the SKD as Royal Sisters’s Anita Glaybo was named the League Most Valuable Player (MVP) in division-one as Tenneh Samah won the MVP in division-two.

Vision Sisters’s Anthony Jambah was named the best coach in the first division, while Jerry Saywakapala won the best coach in division two.

Another Vision Sisters’s players, Varna Darblow and Heney Metzger, collected the Best Pitcher and Highest Home Runner awards.

The Best Referee award went to Delano Minor, popularly known as “Trouble.”.

Also at the awards ceremony, Vision Sisters were officially crowned champions of the first division, while ASK Sisters Reserve-Club were crowned 2nd division champions.

Success Kickball Club was crowned Knockout Cup Champion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Liberia Kickball Federation President Emmanuel Surprise Whea highlighted scores of successes awaiting the federation, ranging from upgrading the playing pitch to an impending sponsorship deal with the National Rotary Authority to recognition of the federation on an international stage, among others.

According to him, there are plans underway for the National Rotary Authority to serve as the official sponsor of the Liberia Kickball League.

“I am grateful to the deputy sports minister, G. Andy Quamie, for every effort he has made in ensuring that this deal becomes successful. Very shortly, we will be announcing it to you officially; what in the deal, and how is it going to be like?”.

The Liberia Kickball Federation President also said he is grateful to the Zeno Group of Companies for the step-taking support in sponsoring the LKF-Paynesville Sub-Committee League.

“Seeing Liberian Company sponsoring Liberian traditional sport worth commanding, the LKF boss narrated”.

The Liberia Kickball Federation President has also said his dream is nearing a reality, adding that his goal has always been about upgrading the playing pitch to a better condition from gravel to artificial turf.

He narrated that feasibility studies have been done on the current kickball pitch at the SKD Sports Complex to transform it into a modern playing field with artificial turf.

“Trust me, the blue print that has to do with how this pitch is going to be like will be updated very shortly. The team of engineers has already done their part in that line.”.

Commenting on the recognition of the federation on the international scene, the Liberia Kickball Federation President said there are processes underway to ensure its recognition.

“You know that good news is good to be given in the morning, because once they are given, the joy will run for the whole day.”.

“Regarding the processes leading for Liberia Traditional Sport to be recognized on the international scene, we will leave it as it is, but we can rightly assure that things are in the making, he said”.

Mr. Whea at the same time showers praise on the winners of the awards and the awards committee over what he termed as brilliant ideas in putting the right mechanism in ensuring that the ceremony was staged.

The LKF boss at the same time maintained his usual advocacies to humanitarians and philanthropist organizations to rally their support to Liberian only traditional sport on grounds that with their little support, kickball will never die.

“To admit, I am grateful to the past leaders of this great federation over the years. They played their part to reach this federation so far. We still need your support in whatever way possible to move our traditional sport forward, Mr. Whea concludes.
