Many Liberians believe that sports remain one of the most effective tools for promoting national unity and keeping young people engaged, beyond their entertainment value.

One such individual is Eric Sayee, a prominent figure from Montserrado County Electoral District #17, who is passionate about using sports as a vehicle for community development and cohesion.
Speaking to our reporter over the weekend, Sayee emphasized that his mission is to support and organize sporting events across the district to foster unity and provide positive engagement for youth.
He said, “I am looking forward to working with the respective communities to continue hosting this event.”
Sayee, who played a key role as one of the organizers of the Memmeh Town Traditional Sports Tournament, helped ensure the successful execution of this year’s event.
The 2025 edition of the Memmeh Town Traditional Sports Tournament concluded over the weekend at the Risks Institute Sports Pitch, with spirited participation and strong community support.

In the football category, Block D emerged as champions, while Block G claimed the top prize in kickball.
Winners walked away with a variety of prizes, including trophies, medals, cash awards, and other valuable items. Third-place finishers were also recognized and rewarded for their efforts and participation.
The tournament witnessed a convergence of residents from the Memmeh Town area. According to our reporter, the local community expressed gratitude toward Mr. Sayee and his sports team for their role in bringing people together.
One resident noted, “Mr. Sayee’s presence in the area has made the place lively, and it’s something worth appreciating.”
