Liberia’s U-17 Soccer Team Leaves The Country This Tuesday For Cairo

Liberia’s U-17 boys’ national team is expected to depart the country for Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, for a series of international friendlies against the Egyptian U-17 national team.
According to the LFA released, the trip was made possible through recent engagements between the Liberia Football Association (LFA) President, Mustapha Raji, and the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) during Raji’s visit to Mauritania.

During the discussions, the EFA agreed to host Liberia’s U-17 team.

The U-17 grassroots program, which is part of the LFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS), is under the supervision of FIFA Talent Coach Ammy Ninje.

Meanwhile, many sports enthusiast believed that the current breed of players have failed the country as they are recommending for the LFA to direct its attention to grassroots programs to restore the image of the country.

The sports enthusiasts said without qualifying for a major tournament or nation’s cup in over 20years is a complete disgrace to this generation of players.

However, Liberia has sofar played in two nation’s cup in the country history; South Africa 1996 and Mali 2002.
